Dr. Derrick Cho is a board-certified neurosurgeon, with nearly 20 years of experience, starting in 2003, at UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham), where he served as Chief Resident in 2008-09.
After completion of residency, Dr. Cho relocated to Denver, CO, where he practiced for 5 years while enjoying the Rocky Mountains with his wife. During that time, he was awarded the 2013 Swedish Dala Award, voted “Most Respectful” by the employees of Swedish Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center in the Denver metroplex.
In 2014, Dr. Cho and family moved back home to Alabama after the birth of his daughter. Speaking of family, Dr. Cho aims to treat each person as part of his own family. He values each patient’s time, and a vital part of his job is “to answer your questions, so that you can make an informed decision about treatment options.” If someone elects to undergo surgery, then Dr. Cho strives to improve his or her quality of life with a meticulous attention to detail, along with the expertise that he has gained over 5,000-plus operations.
When not caring for his patients, Dr. Cho enjoys sporting activities and traveling with his wife, daughter, and son.
With a target start date in the very near future, Dr. Cho is excited to announce plans for a satellite clinic in the Auburn-Opelika region.
